This past summer, James Bach, a well-known name in software testing, was invited to speak at Google on the subject of “Becoming a Software Testing Expert” - the video presentation is about an hour long (and the screen is a little fuzzy) so you may want to read the slides in PDF form.
Either way you view it, the tutorial is ideal if testing is your
career or if you’re interested in how Bach became an expert in the
industry. In the end you’ll come away with a better understanding on
what it means to think like a tester and how to design and critique
testing practices (rather than just copy what the “gurus” tell you to
do). You’ll also get self-study strategies and methods for developing a
colleague network.
